Dear Future Student,
My thoughts on writing had always been bad. Either I did not really care or i could not really give enough detail or really make my paper as long as the assignment was supposed to be and my grade showed it. In reality I just think it bored me to write. Wroting was never a strong point of mine.
That was until this year in English 110. I have to admit i was not happy about it. But it seemed that for some reason this class would be different. I was not happy to hear that our main writing assignment would be 7-10 pages though. I was actually worried about it i had difficulty wriiting 3 pages let alone 7. But the set up for this project was really amazing and that made it so much easier write. First we just chose a topic that seemed to interest us and wrote 2 pages about a source we found on the web not that bad. Then we focused it down and added in more resources to the overall picture this expanded it to 4 pages yet again not that bad. To finally our full 7 page research project pulling it all together and adding more detail into it. Developing the project like this made it so wasy for me and I felt like 7 pages was really nothing.
To me English 110 did really help me grow a lot as a writer. It taught me not to go head first into a long paper but try to break it down into a lot fewer parts so it does not seem that big or hard at all. I had a lot of fun in this class as it seemed I always got to write about something I found intersting. I would recommend it to anyone.

I feel like a lot of people felt the same way you did about taking this English Class. Writing papers doesn't always seem to be fun for most people. This class presented us with a different approach to writing an English paper which built drafts upon drafts which made it a lot easier. This is a great post with lots of great insight.
ReplyDeleteI dreaded writing papers as well but I realized that it's not all that bad. I did have trouble writing a 7-10 pagep paper, however, the steps that we took to writing our final research paper helped a lot!
